Dover Museum & Depot: New London, Iowa
The Dover Historical Society was established in 1995 following the gift of the former glove factory-creamery building for a museum. The Society has endeavored to keep alive the history of the surrounding area by exhibiting artifacts and offering programs for all ages. Both permanent and changing exhibits provide students and adults a view to the past. Exhibits are attractively labeled. An extensive resource library exists to aid research about family genealogy, Henry County records, plat books and maps plus some records of the surrounding counties and communities. Harlan-Lincoln Museum: Mt. Pleasant, Iowa
Set amid the lush, rolling hills of southeastern Iowa, the town of Mount Pleasant yields an unexpected Lincoln connection: the home of James Harlan, where Abraham Lincoln's grandchildren spent many of their summers. The Harlan-Lincoln House, Inc. is a designated 501 [c] (3) public charity and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Hours of Operation: March – October. Henry County Heritage Trust: Mt. Pleasant, Iowa
The museum's physical location is the historic former Saunders Elementary School building in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. It was named in memory of Howard and Helen Hills, due to a generous contribution from their children, Jared and Kent Hills.
Also located on our museum campus is the historic Van Allen home. It was carefully picked up and moved to its current location and converted to a museum to honor and showcase the Van Allen family and all their accomplishments.
Our buildings are full of ever changing exhibits and information of all kinds. We have everything from genealogy records to school memorabilia!

Lewelling Quaker Museum: Salem, Iowa
The Underground Railroad had as many as 5 homes in the Salem area for the safety of slaves escaping their “owners.” This home is now a museum dedicated to that search for freedom. The Lewelling Quaker Museum sits in the quiet farming community of Salem, Iowa, 10 miles south of Mt. Pleasant. Swedish Heritage Museum: Swedesburg, Iowa
The Society created the Swedish American Museum to collect and catalog artifacts of Swedish heritage and early immigrants of the Swedesburg area. The Museum is housed in the former Farmers Union Exchange (FUE) building, built in 1928 by second-generation Swedish Farmers. The FUE served Swedesburg and the surrounding area as a general store and Gathering place for the settlers in the area. The building is typical of stores that once dotted the Iowa countryside. Theatre Museum of Repertoire Americana: Old Threshers – Mt. Pleasant, Iowa
Built and maintained by the Midwest Old Threshers, the Museum of Repertoire Americana officially opened on September 1, 1973, reflecting the long-time dream of repertoire theatre company owners and actors Neil and Caroline Schaffner. The museum is dedicated to preserving memorabilia and artifacts of early repertoire theatre. The collection includes numerous painted curtains and scenic pieces; costumes and equipment used by individual performers and technicians; playbills, show cards, advertising sheets, etc.; and an extensive research library of rare scripts, correspondence, tour schedules, production photos, and other original source materials. Of special interest is the large collection of videotaped interviews with actual “troupers” describing their professional and personal experiences. Winfield Museum: Winfield, Iowa
The Winfield Historical Society and Museum are housed in a turn-of-the-century school building. The displays include railroads, the schoolroom, printing press, the original hose cart for the fire department, Senator Carden memorabilia, dolls, quilts, and many pictures of local businesses and organizations. The basement is a recreation of Erickson’s Toyland, which operated during the 1950s, and 60s and is filled with toys from that era. 114 South Locust Street, Winfield IA 52659.
